Personal Health Information Protection Act(PHIPA)

Ontario law governing how health information custodians (clinics, therapists, doctors, hospitals) handle patient and client data.

Stricter than PIPEDA for the health information it covers. Requires explicit consent, documented privacy policies, breach reporting, and careful third-party data handling. Critical for Ontario therapists, doctors, and any practice handling health information.
